System Requirements

Before installing SQLife, ensure your system meets the following requirements.

Operating System

SQLife is a cross-platform application that runs on:

• Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
• macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or later
• Linux - Most modern distributions
  • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or later
  • Fedora 35 or later
  • Debian 11 or later
  • Other modern distributions

Hardware Requirements

• CPU: 64-bit processor, 2 cores or more recommended
• RAM:
  • Minimum: 2 GB
  • Recommended: 4 GB or more for working with large datasets
• Disk Space:
  • Application: ~200 MB
  • Additional space for data cache and logs: ~500 MB
• Display: 1280x800 or higher resolution

Database Access

SQLife connects to various database systems:

Supported Database Versions

Built-in (Core):

• Oracle: 11g and later (recommended: 19c or later)
• MySQL: 5.7 and later (recommended: 8.0 or later)
• PostgreSQL: 10 and later (recommended: 14 or later)
• SQLite: 3.x

Via Optional Plugins:

• Microsoft SQL Server: 2016 and later (recommended: 2019 or later)
• MariaDB: 10.2 and later
• H2 Database: 1.4 and later
• Apache Derby: 10.14 and later
• HSQLDB: 2.5 and later
• IBM DB2: 11.1 and later
• Snowflake: 5.0 and later
• Databricks: 7.0 and later
• DuckDB: 0.3 and later
• ClickHouse, Trino, Hive, OceanBase, DaMeng (DM), Kingbase, Gauss
• MySQL 5.5 and earlier - Supported via legacy driver
• Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch (key-value/document stores)
• Kafka, RabbitMQ (message queues)

Network Access

To connect to remote databases, you'll need:

• Network connectivity to your database servers
• Access to database ports (typically Oracle: 1521, MySQL: 3306, PostgreSQL: 5432)
• Firewall rules configured to allow these connections

Optional Features

Proxy Support

If you're behind a corporate proxy:

• Proxy support is built-in (HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS)
• Configure in: File → Preferences → Proxy Settings

License

• Free trial available for evaluation
• License required for commercial use
• Contact sales for licensing information

Performance Recommendations

For Large Datasets

When working with millions of rows:

• RAM: 8 GB or more recommended
• Storage: SSD recommended for better performance
• Network: Fast connection to database server

For Multiple Connections

When managing many database connections simultaneously:

• RAM: Additional memory recommended (roughly 500 MB per connection)
• CPU: Multi-core processor recommended
